Prior to taking any photographs

An initial consultation to set the goals for your photographic session. Through this conversation, Richard Jules Photography will gain a true understanding of your goals - whether you'd like a traditional or contemporary family portrait, a pregnancy shoot, a model portfolio, an actor headshot, a simple environmental portrait, or a distinctive set of commercial photographs.

The session

Please allow 60 – 90 minutes for the photographic session, followed by a viewing. Following an initial setup, our photographers allow things to unfold naturally. With infants and children in particular, timing and patience is the key – to wait for the right moment.

Since each child is different we would suggest that you try to schedule the photographic session at a time when the child is at their best, typically after a nap, or a meal. Naturally with your help we will make your child feel comfortable with our photographer, which is essential for great photographs. With adults the photographer will setup the shot and instruct each participant on what to do, thus achieving success.

The location adds depth and artistry to an image. Together we will choose a location where you feel free, happy and relaxed; be it at home, the beach or a park. We can consider locations like art galleries, museums, historical and industrial areas, wharfs etc. (NB. Permission for many of these locations needs to be negotiated in advance and may be subject to additional location fees).

We will work around your busy agenda, however outdoor photography works best in early morning light or late afternoon sun.

Wardrobe

Smart casual clothing always works best. Choose plain and neutral colours like whites, khaki, denims, etc. and avoid bold and busy colours, stripes and large logos. Remember the photograph is about the person not about the outfit.

For large group photos, colours should co-ordinate to create a unified look. We will be happy to discuss the best way to achieve the look, feel and result you are after.

Following the session

Time permitting and all decision making parties present, there will be a viewing session, where all your images will be presented and orders can be made. If for some reason the viewing did not occur, then it will be rescheduled within a week. Images will be ready within two weeks from the viewing.

Costs

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required upon signing to reserve and confirm your portrait booking and start processing your order.

A minimum of twenty-four (24) hours is required for all cancellations and an appointment / engagement can only be re-scheduled a maximum of two (2) times.

Print prices start at $40 for colour and / or black and white prints and a 50% deposit is required to secure and start processing your order.
