A do it yourself person will often take control of problems at home rather than outsource them to a professional, whether it is a leaky roof, a broken tap or anything else. The typical DIY person is obsessed with repairing any issue that comes up. Unfortunately that description does not apply to me so I would like to hire some professional businesses to do the job for me. I live in a nice apartment but the carpet has seen better days. So I decided to talk to my landlord about this old, damaged carpet and hoped he'd agree to a replacement right away. I even did some research on the internet and found many companies like Empire carpet, who can do the job in a short period of time.

Before you make the request, make sure that you have been paying your rents on time and in full every month so the landlord is incentivized to take action right away and be sure to ask the landlord nicely. Assure him that you have done research of various professional carpet installation companies, such as Empire Today, and suggest to him what kind of carpet that you would recommend for the replacement.

Dongyan Wang, an executive of the company NetAp Inc. in San Francisco, has done an incredible job of motivating thousands of the employees of his company to get involved in making do it yourself mobile applications for work.

Wang has challenged that the do it yourself apps invented by the employees would result in a productivity boost which will outweigh the risks of malware and viruses. Bloomberg Businessweek.com has reported that after the completion, of one year to this challenge it has resulted into in 20 do it yourself applications, including an employee directory, customer service.

The making of these do it yourself apps cost around $35,000 to $50,000 as compared to hundreds of thousands of dollars for programs made with help from conventional business software like SAP AG and Oracle Corp.

Wang, the senior director of NetApp located at Sunnyvale, California said that "Our team and users both are astonished at how we can get value of these apps so quickly.

Even the workers who don't have technical brains are building these do it yourself mobile apps for use at the job. The Do it yourself trend is increasing demand for services providing companies like Taptera, Mobile Roadie and Socialize Inc's AppMakr, which can make it easier and cheaper to build mobile apps.

Is DIY only a man's job? No way. A woman can surely fix a lot of things at home provided she has certain basic tools. According to Stephen Fanuka, DIY expert and host of DIY show Million Dollar Contractor, there is no reason why the female sex cannot do repair work which has been considered a male domain so far. He suggests the following tips every women should know, to tackle repairs at home.

The first and foremost requirement is creation of a tool kit comprising of primarily a hammer, tape measure of at least 12 feet, some screw drivers, crow bar and pliers.

To fix a nail, Fanuka advice is to hold the nail in place, with pliers, and then applying the hammer to nail it in.

To fix a screw his DIY suggestion is to use a screw driver with a longer handle to give more leverage. Further if the lady can drill a hole slightly smaller in length than the screw it makes it easier to install the screw.

A toilet plunger is another DIY essential to tackle clogged toilets. However one should close the valve to prevent the toilet from overflowing.

He suggests tackling cracked grouts between tiles by removing the old grout and resealing with a paste of water and dry grout. Fanuka's book "What's a Homeowner to Do", is definitely a ready reckoner for all the wome,n for their DIY repairs at home.
